Okay, boredom was setting in today, so I started a new challenge... See how long you can sail with your eyes closed! I managed 1 minute 15 seconds before I figured I was going off course. First few | more...

I'm an Engineer living in Napier, a nice sunny spot on the east coast of New Zealand. Windsurfing here is mostly bump and jump, with a bit of flat water, and a few waves. I like the thrill of speed surfing the most, but I've only managed to get up to 35.6 knots so far. The latest toy is a SUP board. Great fun in the little waves, and good for flat water cruising. I bought a Blokart a couple of years ago, which can be pretty fun on hard packed sandy beaches, or concrete walkways and parking lots. Another way to enjoy the wind when conditions aren't suitable for windsurfing!

We had 6 show up for the SUP group paddle tonight on the reef. One of the guys also has his kids in the surf club, so they were there on knee paddle boards, along with a few more on surf skiis (do they belong in the winter olympics?). There was a fantastic little wave happening on the reef, so we were all catching heaps of waves. I heard one of the kids shout out 'Party wave!' and looked over and saw about 6 of us all on the same wave!
