One of the best sessions in a while!
Arrived to find plenty of crew on the water and rigging up. Everyone seemed pretty amped - not surprising seeing that there was plenty of swell around combined with a nuking wind.
Chose the 4.2 but kept it baggy to start with just to be safe. After two runs I beached at Whitireia to crank it down and flatten it off. Windy!
There were plenty of great ramps and it was easy to get some huge air - the challenge was to stay on the water. Some insane jumping going on with Tim H's bailed one-footed forward being the highlight for me. I didn't even think about going for forwards with the amount of wind around - although Chris got the "kodak courage" in front of my helmet cam and went for a contorted one - great to watch.
In the riding department it was all about power control and I got backwinded off the top plenty of times. Still scored some wicked rides, with one memorable high-high lip bash into a covered-up-in-whitewater mega-tailslide, emerging from the whitewater to keep sailing. Hoot!
Also shared a nice wave with Chris and caught the the whole thing on film - check out the vid
A great session with a good vibe all round.
