Stronger wind today than we've had in weeks here on Maui. I optimistically rigged 5.3 and headed out on my 85 liter wave board. Felt windy enough dammit, but all this lack of sailing the last 3 months has meant an extra 5 - 10 lbs. I'm carrying around and the 85 just couldn't keep me planing through the holes. Went in for a 106 liter Tabou 3S I'm borrowing from Matt P. That did the trick. Enough extra liters to carry my excess few pounds wherever I wanted to go.
Surf was pretty tiny by Maui wintertime standards. Nothing at Lowers and Uppers was only waist high. Still, good to be out and powered up once I got the right board for the conditions.
