Lovely day so was keen on a decent paddle. Went to Little Shoal Bay with my mate and paddled around Birkenhead point and into Chelsea Bay and found a beautiful little cove with native bush that could've been straight out of Northland - not Birkenhead! Then paddled over to Chelsea sugar works and nearly got tipped off by a whirlpool! There is some sort of pumping going on as there was a whirling pool of water there. Then paddled along the cliffs to Kauri Point and around to the beach at the bottom of Kauri Point Centennial Park and had a break. Then we paddled hard all the way back to Little Shoal Bay.
tried out a new iphone app called MotionX from Motion Recognition Technology which records your track on the phone and gives all sorts of cool features and gives data like this:
Date: 16/02/2012 2:41 pm Distance: 8.35 kilometers Elapsed Time: 1:44:02 Avg. Speed: 4.8 km/h Max. Speed: 8.5 km/h Avg. Pace: 12' 28" per km
Also had the heart rate monitor on and burnt about 1000 Kcl and peaked at 180 BPM. So burnt off 2 of the 5 pints I had last night then.
