Got up this morning & realised there was a nice southerly blowing. Usually I'd be checking the forecast days before & getting amped about a potential session at Lyall, but today I was just going with the flow. I checked the new real time Lyall surf cam & saw that it was low tide & the waves were pretty small, so I went out did some things in the morning before heading down to the beach just after lunch. It was bloody good and I ended up with the old sliced open finger too - must have been a sacrifice to the wind and wave gods kind of thing going on...certainly worked!

markg : Thanks Alex, glad you like them. Yeah if you can get yourself a go on a firewire, then you probably won't want to give it back - Great boards for surfing & kiting. Wind cranks pretty much all year round here. Spring is the most consistent - just had 5 days in a row of kiting in 25 knots plus! Let me know if you do get over this way - Mark

FOT : Hi Mark, Great set of photo's in your gallery, particuarly the strapless kite surfing. I found this through looking at your post on the new firewire reinforced boards in their forum - thanks for getting me onto it! My family is orignally from Masterton, so hopefully I'll get the chance to come accross for a few sessions sometime - when does the wind crank? - Alex
