1st time sailing at MCC after seeing Rob's heads-up on the Deepfried Wellington thread. Only 1 kiter there when we turned up and wasn't sure what it would be like. Turned out to be one of the best freestyle sessions ever as flat, shallow water and perfect 5.4m wind combined to make it so muh easier to make moves than anywhere else I've sailed in Wellington - and for that matter - anywhere else I've ever sailed. Rob got going about the same

About nhunn

Started 1981, stopped 1989, started again 1997 - will stop again about 2042 when I'm 80!. Raced slalom in the early days and a bit of funboard. Organised the Wgtn Reineck series event in '87 or '88. Was sponsored by Blakes for a few years and got one of the old heavy Blakes slalom boards to 2nd palce at the slalom nationals. It probably weighed more than my 3 current boards added together. Other highlights in a very long career: unofficial 5th in slalom part of race Nationals (in Chch 2002 I think) using my wave sails and wave-slalom board. Nothing better than beating the high tech racers using wave gear! Sailing (small) Hookipa in 2002 and again in 2007. Might have peaked in 2007/08 with 4th in freewave and 2nd in Harbour Blast for the season. Third in 2009 Harbour Blast - a much more fun race but still pretty windy. Used 5m wave sail and freestle wave board in both Blasts - so more fun knocking off a few real racers! Fav moves: forwards (after 15 years trying to get my head into it - including early retirement) carving 1 handed 360s (still a favourite) duck tack (newest move but only up to about 4 now).
