Information about Evans Bay, what's done there and who does it
Windsurfing - Bump n Jump, Freestyle, Just cruising, Racing, Grovel/Swim, Speed, Waves,
If it's windy in Wellington it is often windier in the Ditch.
The surrounding landmass funnels the wind through the bay, increasing it's speed.

This is probably the most frequently sailed spot in the greater Wellington area and probably the windiest. Heaps of slalom sailing, as well as freestyle going on here. For sailors owning big gear, this spot is sailable probably most days of the year. A big rolling chop comes through on a strong northerly, conditions are smoother in southerlies. The beach is nice and sheltered in a northerly but has very limited rigging space at high tide.
Watch out for the rocks they are all pointy and are hard on your feet and gear. Some sailors rig on the grass on the top of the point and walk their gear down the rocks.
