The Zandmotor works best with SW and W. A pointbreak is created and waves align in nice sets around the top of the motor. Sometimes a little downwind as the waves come in lines but break at the banks in front of the beachentrances. Without swell the top of the motor still works nice, with waves up to 2m, breaking in one direction. Most of the time the waves are rideable almost to the beach. The current can be real strong so you have to be aware when letting your gear go when falling. As the tide influences the waves you have to look out from time to time to see where the best break is. Great spot with bigwinds as the motor ensures some protection and the best spot in the Netherlands with western winds with the motor creating sideshore circumstances like nowhere else with this winddirection.
