I went there early by my self, worry to be alone. When I get there, was low tide and about 6 kiters, after a hour more or less more than 20 kiters, I would like to see how this will be in the middle of the summer.:-)
I took this day to only try to improve my normal transitions, the last time in Cheltenham my transitions was really ugly. This time I did very nice ones, I believe I nail about 70%, 20% was acceptable and 10% not good.
I pumped the 12m North Dice, and again I was very happy with the kite, the wind was gusty some times, and changing directions but the Dice responded very well, it is a very good kite.
Before head to South Head I watch a video about toe-side transitions, in the video they said is easy start in the not natural directions, because you will be riding and turning toe-side in the natural position what make everything easy. In Cheltenham I did it in the "not easy" side and all was good, so I decided try again, but in the "easy" side, worked well I managed turn toe-side and do the transition, this time I didn't ride long in toe-side, I only turn toe-side and did the transition in sequence, after manage to do in one side I decided to do in the other side in sequence, worked as well. I only did this two times and stop.
The other thing I did was a self water launch. I decided practice it after a disaster in Shoal bay last Wednesday after work. I went there to kitesurf with Ticiana, as we have made before, I helped her launch her kite and she helped myself launch my kite when she was flying her kite, but I think I position myself to high upwind and her bar caught on my kite, she lost control and was dragged in the Shoal bay shells, not nice to see and I was unable to help her because my kite fall upwind of her, I was worried in run to help her and my kite fly and hit her making everything worst. In the end she was ok, but I decided is time to learn how to self launch.
The manoeuvre was ok, everything worked well and I launch the kite without problem. Of course South Head in low tide make everything easier and safe, you can walk a lot inside the water, clean the bush, have a lot of water downwind, etc. There is a good place to try it.
Let's waiting for another kiting day.
