Today was a Watersport Demo Day in Pine Harbour, I get there early around 12:00 tide coming up, nobody in the water. No much wind maybe 14kts in the gust, average 11. Two guys starting pump a 12meters and a 10 meters. The forecast was much strong.
I waiting a bit to see what will be happen, some gust start to peak 18/19/20 kt, but after the wind die again, Decided to pump de 12m, was only took the 12 of the bag the wind pick up, waiting a little more and after talk with local kiters I decided pump the 9m.
The first 20 minutes was interesting, some times kiting very well some times no wind, but the place is nice, plenty of space, I can't complain.
The wind pick up and up and in the end I was full depower, some times flying the kite at 11 and overpower, again when I was going upwind was ok, I edge the board very hard, the kite move to the wind window edge and I can control well, but I can't go upwind all the time and this 9 meters go upwind a lot, and when I need to bear away or keep my height the kite move to the power zone and I need to put it very high, with wavy conditions is interesting.
One stuff I was playing with was when the gusty hit I starting to beating but keeping the kite very high, some times I was almost laying down on the harness, I cold feel my legs very light, some time I lift my legs (board) of the water and pull the bar at the same time and I kind of slide down wind, the problem was basically two: stop before the kite fall and don't rotate, after a almost a disaster when I swing to much downwind and my kite almost fall on my head I decided this is a bit danger.
The sea was a bit wavy and I couldn't ride toe side very well, but I play a lot with the small "waves", tried to jump some, etc.
Was another nice day kiting, and Pine Harbour didn't disappoint again.
