Did a spur of the moment epic paddle from Cheltenham around Browns Island and back. It turns out it is further than it looks and I got half way out and it didn't seem much closer! Thought I'm on a mission now and kept paddling on the Jimmy Lewis M-14. I eventually got to Browns Island and realised I had no food apart from a couple of manky peanut bars in the bottom of my aqua pack. Bonus. The thought while I am here I must paddle around the island - so I did. The return leg was a mission! The tide was ripping in, the sea breeze picked up and I ran out of water! I had to dig it in and battle the breeze and tide to get back to Cheltenham.
Great paddle but I was lucky with the conditions as I wasn't well prepared with food and water. But it is the longest paddle I have ever attempted x 2! I felt pretty good and reckon I'm up for more 20km paddles. The M-14 was great as so stable and able to deal with chop and boat wakes.
