Do you know the day where everything just don't work ? Yes, this was my kite session.
I get Shoal about quarter to 5pm, wind was good, tide was high, I saw some people riding 7.5 meters but the average was on 9's, I pumped my 9 Dice on the grass, lay down the lines, rechecked the lines and went to drifting launch. Just a second after I release the kite I saw one line going over the canopy, I tried to release it but was to late, I started to pull the line connected to the leash to recover the kite. This was exact the line wrapped around the kite :-( I could recover it, but I was worried to damage the kite. After recover it, I check the kite, nothing happen, untangle the lines and start again. This time everything worked fine.
I water started and a gust hit me, I get a lot of speed, hit some chop and my back foot came out of the strap. I lost control, lost the board and crash. Like a beginner.
I felt the straps were too tide, my first mistake was not stop and loose it a bit. All session I was struggling with it. Body-drag, recover the board and start again.
After that I didn't have any other accident, but I don't know why I couldn't enjoy, everything was wrong. I was not able to ride properly, I try a few times jump, but when I try to load I lost board control, when I could load the pop didn't work, as I was out of synchronisation. I did only one jump and it was not good.
Ok is not a day to learn jump so I decided play with the chop waves in the middle of the channel, but I couldn't have fun as well, I tried toe-side transidtion, didn't worked, I could finish it but not right.
After a while I decided call the day and go home, someone help me land the kite, was the only thing that worked well. To close the day didn't have water to wash the gear. :-(
I think I deserve a good time in South Head.
