Wind Direction: NE Wind Strength: powered

The was forecast was very good for today but showing no wind Saturday and Sunday, I decided take half day as a holiday and head to Orewa, I get there around 12:30 and 13:00 I was in the water.

The wind was around 15kts very stable, I believe was one of the best days I kitesurf in Orewa.

I was using some gear for the first time, I bought a new harness and a North click bar, and I was trying a new North James 136cm board.

The harness is a NP Mirage and feel comfortable but nothing really different from my old one, I didn't feel any major difference. The click bar is much easier to adjust, because that and because was new toy, I was always in the best setting. I don't think is something to spend money on it, the old camclet system work just fine.

Before I talk about the North James board I will tell why I am trying a new board. A few days ago I was riding in Orewa and I borough Jordan's twin-tip board, was a Cabrinha Xcaliber 138cm, the wind was light and I felt the difference when I load to pop with this board, a long time ago I try the same board and I couldn't felt any difference to my old board but know I start to fell that difference.

Talking about the North James 136cm, my first impression was not good, I felt the board glued in the water when I was popping, I don't know how to explain but was like the water didn't want release the board but I felt much easier to load with this board, I felt like the board hold much more and was more forgiving than my old board. With my old board if everything go smooth no problem at all, but if I pressure a little bit more I lost control, with the new one looks like I can make more mistake and the board still holding the grip. The land was another big difference, my old board any mistake the board slide sideways, with the new one I felt the board was in a track when I was landing, and I don't know how to jump high, my jumps is very small about a meter, with big jump I believe this will be more "visible".

I could felt all this difference because I was pay attention in my reactions, every time I was doing something I was reacting as I was riding the old board and I was surprised how the new board react different. After a hour maybe I start to felt more comfortable with the new board and started to play with toe-side, toe-side transition, jump the waves, etc. I don't know yet if this is "my board" but I liked it.

After 2 hours riding I started to make a basic mistakes, my legs and arms was sore and I decided stop, but I really want to kite more.
