Finally enough wind (just) to run the comp.... Rigged the new Naish Force 5.3m and was really glad of its light weight..... its was an epic grovel fest out there.
Had the big board and big fin on and even then I didn't plane once on the way out. It was all about just forgeting about speed and trying to get as far up wind as you could.
Once up there you could bear off and hook into some nice fun sized swell.
Tried to sit as has high as I could on the wave so I could hit the first steep section, then bomb down the line around the white water to the wally part of the wave get a few more turns in and try to line up the second section for a wee air...
Once I relaxed a bit and started to have fun things began to click. Got a enough nice turns and late lip smacks to get through to the final and a 5th equal with Constantine. Best ever result, very happy with that considering the competition out there. By the end of the final I had absolutely nothing left in my arms and could barely carry my gear.... knackered.
The day was a real wave riding test as jumping just wasn't gonna happen, it was all about position and timing and the right gear choice.... I guess I got lucky.
Beer and another sausage on the beach then the drive back home in convoy with Woo and Clayton.
