Bodyboarding Hoek van Holland

Hoek van Holland, Zuid-Holland
bodyboarding: prone
2 pm - 4 pm Saturday. January 30. 2010
my rating 5 star rating

Temp: 2 degrees celsius water temp: 4 degrees celcius Waves: 1,5-2 meters Wind: 6 m/s dropping to no wind Who there: Lau, Bart, Ridge (Mocca filming, Steps fotgraphy)

Menn waht a day!My first look outside was SNOW! Although I was in the mood for bodyboarding knowing there was no wind but nice waves. On www.bodyboarder.nl I saw that Lau and Bart where also heading for Hoek van Holland. Steps was also in the mood, if there would be enough wind he would have gone kitesurfing otherwise taking pictures of us :)

On teh arrival I saw nice wave in hight, but a bit messy. We went in and I did several attampts to get back the main break with no result, Bart also had problems to get out..finally I got behind it and there I made some good rides. I didn't feel like fighting my way back again so I was a bit (too) carefull and bailed out after short rides. Lau had a few barrells and Bart had good rides too. In the end I went to the beach and Step offerd to wear his Hero Pro HD camera.. I was already tired but hey I had to try :)

So I went out again and had unfortunatly a closeout wave, but the image is good!! I have added a short film for the impression..

3 thumbs up!

Dude did you ever try bodyboarding yourself? I do the stand up with my windsurfboard ;) I own a mini malibu 7'3" too, but I always end up bodyboarding when there are waves and no wind... it's so nice to be so close to the water end stick your nose in some tube :) Also shorebreak sessions with really steep/hollow waves can be so good bodyboarding. In these waves you even don't want to be with a surfboard

hehe oke oke. yeah did bodyboarding when i was younger on Vlieland a lot.. mini malibu's are not really boards for real surfing i must say.. tried one here, it just doesnt turn! take a shorter lighter one and you'll have a lot of fun on the ocean.. anyway, respect for boarding in the icy northsea! im glad i have to miss that one this year :D

:) Icy it can be! The mini malibu doesn't turn fast indeed..but hey as I said I end up bodyboarding anyway and If there is a little wind I prefer the windsurfing and do the wavesurfing back if possible (ha ha). Maybe if I was in a place with nice long lines and so I would like the surfing better.. Plan is also to learn to kitesurf this year, then use a directional waveboard ... This way I don't have to paddle my way out ;) Enjoy Mauritius!
