Epic drive up to Dongara after work on Thursday, arrived at 10pm after stopping at the Cataby Roadhouse for one of their legendary burgers with lot.
The wind was in early in the morning, with a few guys out around 8am. The WAKSA crew had done an awesome job decking out the SLSC area and supplying good food all day.
Most of the brands were represented, on Friday I tested a bulk-load of kites, summary below;
F-One Bandit 3: Great delta shapped kite. Good quality bar and safety system. Constant power from teh kite through the window, awesome floaty jumps.
F-One Twintip (cant remember the name): tested out this board with the bandit. Had a carbon "X" through the centre. Nice and solid feel to it.
Airush Vapor X: I wasn't a big fan of the Airush Vapor X. It was a bit sluggish for me, and didn't stay up while on little waves coming towards it. Maybe I wasn't working it hard enough?
Airush Lithium: Great Kite. Very similar to the Bandit in shape and performance. Nice bar, if not a bit to coarse on the grip.
Airush Protoy: Great board as always. Solid as, great fun board. Nice early planing.
Wainman Gypsy: Again, delta shaped kite, similar to the Lithium & Bandit. The bar lets it down thou, archaic saftey system.
Takoon Pure: Crap IMO. was back-stalling while holding it up on the beach. I didnt bother taking out for fear of crashing on the bulk-loads of kiters on the beach.
Best Waroo: Pretty basic kite. Good for beginners I reckon, not really responsive enough for my liking.
Best Kahoona: Another nice Delta kite. Didnt seem as responsive as the others thou.
Slingshot Fuel: I've always wanted to try one of these. Great fun kite, really have to work it through your turns to keep it going, but really responsive.
That's all I fitted in on Saturday morning, some gret kites out there, pretty packed with people come around noon as you'd expect!
