A packed bus headed off from Dongara at around 1:00pm with trailer full of gear in tow all ready for the Epic 28km (straight line) Downwinder.
The launching spot was absolute shite, about 8m of seaweed, with a carpark full of jagged rocks - not the best spot to launch.
Most guys hugged the coast from the start, but there were bugger all waves for the first 8km so I and some of hte other guys cruised in a straight line until the waveas kicked in.
There were a few nice little waves along the way, great hacking around. Most of the guys out there were experienced enough that we could kite close together without too much worry of colliding with each other.
The run felt suprisingly short, probably give all of the 11km runs from Swanny to Trigg we've done this season. I headed out to the reef break for a quick decent wave session which was great fun. After about an hour out there the ~1.5km tack back upwind was punishing!
