Modified the outline of my 14cm tfc fin, first by reducing the rake in the tip aerea. Now the fin gave some accelleration and planing power, but still behind my 15cm custom fin. Then got the idea to straighten the trailing edge in the middle part of the fin up to 2/3 and give it more curve in the upper tip area. That worked!!! very efficient now like my custom fin, just a bit smaller.
Now the fin was also working in the forward box in a *board like setup with the new 12cm sym fins in the back.
Then i swapped the rear and front fins to test the new 12cm fins as sidebiters. they got a nice thin profile. Very good performance in this setup, more directional drive. The toe-in of 1.0 degree was just right on this board. That was still true for the asymmetrical fins i tried!
The wind was a little weak for my 5.3 s-1, but it was fun to bear off and accellerate in the gusts to a very good top speed and then crank into really nice carving turns.
Modified the new 12cm fins in a similar way, too. Wind was dying, but in some gusts i felt very good drive.
Learned a lot about the importance of the fin outline and have now a real performant 86l freewave board - stoked!!
The only set-back of the day was that my nice severne s-1 got teared in the sail window..
